My Green Designer Drum-Set!

Though i’ve said in another posting that you don’t need to own an expensive drum-set to make good music, i must confess that my Kit is not really the cheapest…

It’s a Sonor Designer, what do i need to say more? Yes, this drum series is very expensive, but it’s worth every cent. It is an Instrument you buy once in your live and never give away anymore.

Though the Designer is very loud, you can do everything else with that Kit. Play smooth or heavy, fast or slow, the sound is always full, warm and well-shaped.

An absolute plus is the hardware! It’s ultra-heavy but mega-flexible! It’s no problem to completely change the set up. You can switch and turn and move the toms into nearly every possible position.

The Designer Series also has a lot of little features, some are brilliant (like the completely or partly turnable Hi-Hat Feet), others just look great but never have been very useful for me (like the round knobs).

I’ve got a 22″ Kick Drum and the usual 14″ Snare. Currently i’m playing 10″ and 12″ Tom Toms above the Bass-Drum. My actual Floor Toms (which are hanging ones as well) have 13″ and 14″ sizes.

You might say 13″ and 14″ is a bit small for some Floor Toms. But believe me, it’s not. They sound deep enough, because the 14″ Tom has an quadratic format – a depth of 14″. But i also own a 15″x15″ Tom to add more deepness to the sound if needed.

The color of my Drum-Set is an extraordinary “Green Sparkle”. I know that green is an untypical color for a Drum-Kit but i still love it. The surface is extremely beautiful and stylish.

You should visit your local drum dealer and have a closer look at the Sonor Designer Set. In the meantime i will write another posting about my Cymbals, Hardware and Stuff.

Do you also own a Sonor Designer? What do you think about this instrument? Post your Comment!

Hi there, my name is Markus and i'm from Germany where i started drumming in 1978. After learning to play all Beatles songs backwards, i was instructed after the methods of Siegfried Fink and Dante Agostini. Over the years i played in numerous bands almost every style you can imagine. Since over a decade i also give private drum lessons. Beautiful kit. Just FYI, the photo is a green bubinga kit, not green sparkle. I play a green sparkle Designer kit and love ‘em too. Rock on.
