Here’s my second Drum Lesson on Video, the Double Stroke Roll. I play the same long and short runs like in the “Single Stroke Introduction“.

The Double Stroke Roll is one of the most important rudiments you must learn to play immediately. Please also read this post about the Double Stroke Roll.
It doesn’t matter if you’re using the traditional or the matched grip (like i do on the video). It also doesn’t matter if you are left-handed or right-handed…
…the funny thing with these rudiments is that both hands have to do exactly the same. You know, 2 strokes here, 2 strokes there. It’s easy to control your playing and to train your “poor” hand.

I’m new to your site but I’ll WILL be back in the future! Great information. Be sure not to let the second note on each hand drop or unintentionally let the first note become an accent. In rudimental drumming contests they want to hear evenness (sp?). Just like when you play sixlets or three notes on each hand each time you hit the drum each note needs to have the same velocity and quality of sound. :-)
